The OCN Volunteer Fire Department consist of two full time employees and thirty volunteer men and women. The Volunteer Fire Department provide fire safety education to the community and to all day cares and schools. They provide the Fire Plans to each entity on Opaskwayak Cree Nation.

As part of their Volunteer work, they provide security and First Aid for community events such as Opaskwayak Indian Days, Summer Games, Fishing Derbies, Children's Events etc.

The Firefighters will do personal home visitations going over a checklist with the homeowner to help educate the public and keep them safe.
